The Miss Y & Alphabet Community® Class Community Sewing Kit brings educators, families, and community members together to create a special collection of alphabet character dolls for the classroom.
A great tactile experience for boys and girls literacy, they can pass the sounds around like they are small footballs.
Melissa has designed round dolls for the sounds to be passed around like a netball.
Pre-printed fabric patterns: The Miss Y & Alphabet Community® doll patterns are printed directly onto the material, ready for educators and community members to cut out and sew together.
Miss Y & Alphabet Community® Sound Work Cards: Educational character cards designed to support letter recognition, letter–sound relationships, phonemic awareness, and early literacy activities.
Educators invite families and community members to help sew the Alphabet Community dolls, creating a shared classroom resource.
Once completed, the dolls can be used alongside the Sound Work Cards to bring letters and sounds to life through hands-on learning, storytelling, and playful literacy experiences.
The Community Sewing Kit is more than a sewing activity. It connects home, school, and community while creating meaningful learning resources that educators can use year after year.
